Images: June 23, noon, Garland's Lodge | Indian Gardens, June 22 | June 21
These 7 photos were taken from Garland's Lodge around noon, Friday, June 23rd, 2006. Most of the shots reflect not much happening at Slide Rock as most of the activity was on the other side of the west side of the ridge from Slide Rock. There is a slurry tanker in two photos as they buzz Slide Rock and drop on the west side of the series of little ridges. There is a little six seater zipping through and then this big lumbering tanker follow right down the center of his trail.
As of yesterday afternoon, Slide Rock looks like just a few spot fires and smoking embers, although the hot shots yesterday were saying the fire was likely to pass Garlands Lodge on the west side of Oak Creek, and the southeast facing slope of the canyon at that point one mile north of Slide Rock State Park. More mature trees are still standing at Slide Rock than expected.
