The first public roadside restrooms have been completed at Indian Gardens by the collective efforts of members of the Oak Creek Canyon Task Force. Without the construction expertise of Morgan Stine, Co-Chairman, the project would not have been viable.

Coconino County, and Salt River Project (SRP), made substantial financial contributions that were supplemented by donations from many residents and businesses in the Canyon, and Sedona.

The restrooms were just one of several projects in the grant we were awarded by the ADEQ/EPA, but it was the most complex because we also had to drill a very deep well close by in order to provide water.

As a side project, we installed a fire hydrant there, too, so the Sedona Fire District had a water source in the event of a fire emergency in the area.

Other projects in the grant included a new shower disposal system at Cave Springs campground; sediment traps at two recreation areas; trailhead signs at twelve locations; development of the first web site dedicated to the Canyon, as well as the expansion of our Keep Oak Creek Canyon Beautiful anti-litter program.
