The original Water Quality Improvement Grant Program Agreement was signed by ADEQ on March 4th, 2004. Due to delays brought on by the Brins Fire event, subsequent extensions were granted, and the final phase of the Visitors Center restrooms at Indian Gardens was completed in the summer of 2008.

In 2006, the Brins Fire stopped our restroom construction, and the area was closed off after the fire because of the threat of heavy rains causing washouts. The delays also caused problems with sub-contractor agreements, and increased our costs substantially, and a grant extension included a revamped scope of work.
Raising additional funding was a tremendous challenge during 2007 and 2008 because our economy had slowed down considerably. Nevertheless, the restrooms had to be completed and the OCCTF appealed to a broad number of individuals, businesses and levels of government for financial help.
The response was gratifying, and donations ranging from $50 to $13,000 poured in as a result. We are honored to be able to share with you the names of those who also believe that protecting our Canyon environment, and the integrity of Oak Creek is a community effort.
The following is a list of donors who contributed directly, and indirectly to all projects in the Water Quality Improvement Grant projects, but in particular, the restroom construction.
